This guide covers all aspects of Mexican legal research. Its purpose is to provide a contextualized overview of how to conduct research on Mexican law — referencing applicable Spanish language resources and highlighting any available sources in English. Organized into three main sections by general resource type, the Guide covers “Primary Sources,” “Secondary Sources,” and “Online Resources,” and then the more specific sources that fall within those categories.

The Diario Oficial de la Federación is the daily official gazette of the federal government. It publishes laws and regulations enacted by the federal government.

Over 250 federal codes and laws in current versions. This site also has over 80 of the important reglamentos de leyes federales (regulations to the federal legislation).

The Mexican states and the Federal District now post a good deal of legislation on their websites. Use the collection of links to state governments at this link.

The Instituto de Investigaciones Juridicas is the foremost legal institute in Mexico and Latin America. The site offers a comprehensive collection of primary and secondary materials. The materials are in Spanish and are updated on a regular basis. Mexican Federal and State legal materials are available.
